Spider control in Bakersfield
Most spiders are no trouble. A black widow by the garage door is the one people call about. Reach an independent company here.

Black widows
UC IPM says the western black widow is found in populated areas almost everywhere in California. A mature female is about 1/2 inch long and shiny black, with a red mark on the underside of the abdomen that often looks like an hourglass. The web is a messy, irregular tangle, not a neat wheel.
They usually stay outside the house, in holes, crevices and clutter. In garages they tend to build by doors and near vents, and they often hide by day. Woodpiles, gaps in block walls and pipe openings are all worth a careful look with a flashlight.
Bites are quite rare, even where the spiders are common. If someone is bitten and has symptoms, get medical care.
What a spider visit usually involves
Expect a walk around the garage, eaves, wood storage and block walls, and removal of webs. UC IPM says to focus on webs and hiding places, so a visit that only sprays may not hold.
Lots of spiders can also mean lots of other insects for them to eat. It's worth asking whether something else is drawing them in. Ask how to prepare and how long to stay out of treated areas.

Cut down hiding places
- Wear gloves when moving firewood, boxes or anything left outside for a while.
- Vacuum or sweep corners, windows and rarely used storage.
- Keep clutter off the garage floor and store items in sealed bins.
- Seal gaps around pipes where they enter a wall.
