How to check a California pest control license
The companies you reach through this site are independent, so checking the license is on you. It takes a couple of minutes and the state makes it easy.

Who licenses pest control in California
The Structural Pest Control Board, part of the state Department of Consumer Affairs, licenses and regulates structural pest control companies and individuals. It also takes complaints. It publishes a license lookup that anyone can use.
Using the lookup
Get the details on the call
Ask for the company's registered name and its license or registration number.
Open the state search
The Board's license page sends you to the Department of Consumer Affairs search.
Narrow it to the Board
Choose Structural Pest Control Board under boards and bureaus.
Search
Use the business name, a person's name, or the license number. Advanced search lets you filter by location or license status.
Read the result
Check the status and the branch. The Board notes that cancelled licenses do not appear in the results; call its licensing line at (916) 561-8704 to ask about those.
The three branches
- Branch 1: fumigation of household and wood-destroying pests with lethal gases.
- Branch 2: household pests without fumigation. Ants, roaches, spiders and rodents fall here.
- Branch 3: wood-destroying pests using insecticides or structural repairs, without fumigation.
The people, too
The Board licenses individuals as well as companies. Applicators, field representatives and operators are separate license types. Applicators and field representatives can only work for a registered company.
